Are you passionate about technology and interested in exposing youth to an exciting and creative new world?

TechSpark is an innovative, free tech program that teaches inner-city youth coding skills in preparation for employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. It is where consumers grow into creators and innovators. We are launching our program in the Spring of 2015, and currently seeking a paid full-time facilitator to develop and run the 8 week training portion of the program this Spring. Additionally, we are seeking volunteer mentors and internship partners to support the delivery of our program.

We are looking for a supportive, talented and committed individual to help us deliver exceptional content to youth living in urban communities in Toronto. Our 8 week program cover topics related to software development for mobile and web applications.

Our facilitator must be caring, energetic and knowledgeable of software development using a variety of industry accepted programs. They must have professional experience that relates to the subject, and a demonstrated portfolio of work that reflects their passion and excitement. Previous teaching experience to youth is preferred. Our facilitator must have a passion for providing an alternative, accelerated learning environment that is collaborative and accessible to all.

Why join the Facilitator team?

DRIVEN Accelerator Group was founded as a non profit in 2012, to provide underrepresented entrepreneurs with advanced startup training, mentorship and access to capital. Since then, we built our startup accelerator program into an internationally recognized brand, that helped its startups raise over one million in private investments. Running a one of a kind startup program taught us that our mission to increase economic empowerment to black, female and newcomer entrepreneurs must begin at the youth stage.

As a TechSpark facilitator you assist us in expanding accessible digital literacy through quality training. You will gain experience teaching youth of diverse backgrounds and ages, and accelerating their growth into Toronto’s tech community.

As a facilitator, you will have the opportunity to connect with our diverse network of mentors, volunteers as well as other non profits in the youth serving sector both socially and professionally. Most importantly, as a TechSpark facilitator, you will have the power to positively impact the self efficacy and confidence of youth who need it most.

Interested applicants must send a link to a CV or resume along with a portfolio and references to techsparkto@gmail.com by January 31, 2015. Please include your LinkedIn profile and social media handles if available.
